Independent and Accessible

Skge is an independent organization that provides accessible complaints mediation and dispute resolution. We do this for the general practitioners, pharmacists, and dental hygienists affiliated with us. Our staff are committed to turning every complaint into an opportunity to improve healthcare. They do not pass judgment, and provide a listening ear to all parties involved.

Are you dissatisfied with the way you were treated by your healthcare provider? Then skge’s complaints officers can help you bring up the issue. Where necessary, they act as mediators. If mediation between you and the healthcare provider does not lead to a solution, you can initiate a legal procedure with a disputes committee.

Searching for a Solution

Have you tried discussing your complaint with your healthcare provider, without reaching an agreement? Then the complaints officer can mediate between you and your provider. This involves a process of hearing both sides. You will therefore need to be prepared to explain your complaint and also to listen to your provider’s response. In this way, the complaints officer works together with both parties to find space for a solution.

If this mediation does not lead to a satisfactory outcome, you may submit your complaint to a disputes committee. This means initiating a legal procedure, which requires you to substantiate your complaint properly. The committee may request further explanation, either in writing or during a hearing. Once all the facts are known, the committee will determine whether your complaint is justified or not. This decision is binding.

Dutch as the Working Language

For both the complaints mediation and dispute resolution procedures, Dutch is the official language. This means that the complaint form must also be submitted in Dutch. This requirement is based on legal regulations. In addition, language is an important tool in establishing the facts and clarifying nuances, both in writing and orally. If you do not speak Dutch, or not sufficiently, you may authorize someone else to act on your behalf.
